Biography

With over 26 years of operational and management experience in the logistics industry, Terry heads up a dedicated team of industry professionals responsible for the delivery of the overall Westgate Ports strategy. This strategy includes:

• The development of the infrastructure at the Victoria Dock site within the Port of Melbourne. The Westgate Ports site at Victoria Dock is just over 20 hectares and currently under construction is a 3 road dual gauge rail siding with wagon standing lengths up to 650 metres, over 20,000 square metres of heavy duty container hard stand and a 17,000 square metre warehouse designed to provide state of the art container pack/unpack and customer pallet storage.
• The Westgate Ports Victoria Dock site will ultimately provide shipping Lines and the importers and exporters of Melbourne with Stevedoring Services, Port shuttle trains, Warehousing and Container Transport and Container Pack/Unpack, including Customs and Quarantine services. The site is seen as a breath of fresh air for the Port of Melbourne adding much needed competition and capacity.

In addition to our goals at Victoria Dock, Westgate Ports have also commenced preparations for the development of two intermodal hubs within the major freight catchment areas of Melbourne, being Lyndhurst in the South East and Altona in the South West. These inland ports which will each have their own rail siding will be connected to the Port of Melbourne by the existing rail network and will assist the Port of Melbourne meet the growing freight task associated with Channel Deepening by moving large numbers of containers in single rail movements. This alternative mode of transport to trucks will relieve our roads of congestion and provide a cleaner greener and more efficient transport environment.
