Mercy Aged Care

This developmentis being built by Salta Constructions and will provide a nursing facility for Mercy Health and Aged Care. The project involves the design and construction of a 110-bed facility providing a mix of low care, high care and extra service status places to the community. Salta Constructions is responsible for the demolition down to ground level of an existing four level building, structural modification and extension to the existing two basement levels and five levels of new concrete structure. Given the building's proximity to the existing Mercy Private Hospital and adjacent St Francis Consulting Suites, the project entails major services infrastructure segregation, diversion and upgrade works. The project comprises basement car parking and back-of-house operations, three levels of accommodation, residents' facilities and administrative areas built around a feature landscaped courtyard. There is also a fourth level comprising an ESS club lounge, terraces, games areas and the like. The overall project has a gross floor area of some 8,000 m2. Salta has implemented a responsible design aesthetic that complements the site context, built form and landscape character of the surrounding area, in order to provide benefit to the East Melbourne precinct as a whole.
