Take a look at Salta's journey so far, via the timeline below.
Salta was founded by Salvatore ‘Sam’ Tarascio in 1970. Our first warehouse was completed at Cherry Lane in 1972.
Our head office was established in Altona North. We also acquired a large industrial land estate in Altona North, where we completed the CIG development and expanded our vision with a further acquisition in Somerton.
Our rapid expansion saw high-profile tenants arrive as sites were realised, including Target and Bridgestone in Altona North, BHP in Port Melbourne and our impressive new head office in 1997 comprising a 10,000sqm office building and 19 warehouse offices.
Accelerated growth saw new buildings delivered all over Melbourne, including the CitiWest Industrial Estate, the first Victoria Gardens project and flagship IKEA store, CitiWest South and CitiSouth Dandenong, along with expansion interstate.
Salta delivered a string of prestigious residential developments, including 150 Clarendon Street and moving headquarters to Collins Street, adding more ambitious projects including Green Square, a place to live apartments, and further industrial expansion, including a Bunnings Distribution Centre.
The group also received approval to extend Preston Market, and purchased the site for Industry Lanes, along with other residential projects including The Park House and Walmer.
Despite the challenges of COVID-19, Salta continued to diversify with a series of project deliveries including Industry Lanes, 145 Clarendon Street, Walmer and Walmer Bridge, and the launch of the group's Build to Rent buisness, Est, with the delivery of Fitzroy & Co in October 2024.
Our industrial and commercial precincts continued progress with new blue-chip tenants at Nexus Mulgrave and Nexus Dandenong South, including Inland Port progression and the completion of 633 Springvale Road.
In 2023, we moved to our new Head office on Level 29 at 35 Collins Street.
Our Founder, Salvatore (Sam) Tarascio received the Property Council Legacy Award in 2024, and was inducted into the Property Council Property Hall of Fame in June 2025.
